Dr. Adwoa Afrakoma Agyei-Nkansah is a Consultant Physician at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) – Ghana. She is also a lecturer, in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Ghana. Additionally, she is the Head of Medical Ward One Unit (Gastroenterology/Hepatology and Cardiac Ward), Department of Medicine, KBTH. Dr. Adwoa Afrakoma Agyei-Nkansah Heads the Chest clinic (Tuberculosis unit), Department of Medicine, KBTH.
She is a West African College of Physicians, and holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Ghana School of Public Health. She is a Council member of IC-HEP USA, a Board Member of the Hepatitis Foundation of Ghana and the Foundation for Africa Relief, USA.
She is a Reviewer of the Ghana Medical Journal, and East African Journal. She is a member of the Advisory Board - Hepatitis Control Program, Ghana. She is also a visiting scholar at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital of Harvard Medical School, USA., amongst several others.
Professionally, she is a Member of the Ghana Medical Association, the Ghana Society of Internal Medicine, the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the Ghana Association for the Study of Liver and Digestive Diseases, and a member of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Adwoa Afrakoma Agyei-Nkansah has attended and presented at numerous local and international conferences and events. She also has over seventeen (17) collaborated research and publications to her name, as well as numerous book chapter reviews. These include:
